You approach the world with your guard intact because unconsciously, and perhaps consciously, you want to maintain an element of control in your relationships with people. You tend to hold your private experiences just out of reach of others. You're not one to immediately show all your cards, to let people into who you really are until you're ready.

Unfortunately, that sometimes means you also hide things from yourself. You may find that your desire to remain guarded backfires, affecting your self-awareness. Why are you like this? hrmmm... i've been doodling quite a bit lately (of duo. shirtless. o_O;;), & have actually finished -- yes, you read that right, *finished* -- a vignette on o/p for the seventeenth improv. i chucked it at the beta & have not seen hide nor hair of it since... not that i mind or anything. the improv ends in december anyway. ^^;;

i'm also falling in love with augustyn, ramos, & hope... & am currently turning into a completely insaitable fangirl in the process. >_<

this list of banned books was taken from hi-chan who took it from blackrose... i think.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou: i was on a women's literature kick (specifically, african american literature) the summer after i graduated... so i read this. didn't enjoy it too much, but i did read all of it. ^^;;

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain: required reading for sophomores in high school. didn't enjoy reading this much either. -__-;;

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck: this was summer reading for high school freshman year. i *loved* this book. i love steinbeck.

Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling: am obsessed about this series & some of the characters... hee!

Forever by Judy Blume: hmmm... i remember reading this in elementary... i think we *all* read judy blume back then.

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson: this book was 4th grade reading (along with island of the blue dolphins & maniac mcgee). i actually liked this book... but i don't think she commited suicide. i remember her just drowning in that waterway they had to cross to get to their tree/hideout/waterever. not positive, though... it was 4th grade. ^^;;

My Brother Sam is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger: read this, on my brother's urging (who picked it up because of some conspiracy theory fetish), on the 5 hour plane ride from la to the stopover in nc this summer. i'm not sure if i enjoyed it b/c of the story itself or just for the fact that it eased the boredom.

Goosebumps (Series) by R.L. Stine: yeah, yeah. i admit it. i read a couple of these.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker: my ap english teacher gave me a collection of essays by alice walker right before i graduated. read that. enjoyed it. then picked this up... although, i do remember watching the movie some years back... i like them both. ^_^

Earth?s Children (Series) by Jean M. Auel: first porn? hell ya! ^_~

Blubber by Judy Blume: another blume indulgence way back when i didn't know any better...

The Handmaid?s Tale by Margaret Atwood: i agree with hi-chan. this book kicks major ass. go read it! now even.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: another high school required reading.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes: read this, on my sister's urging a long time ago. definitely a keeper.

A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein: who didn't read everything by silverstein after picking up "where the sidewalk ends"?

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley: read this after reading 1984 by orwell... enjoyed both portrayals of reverse utopias. & some things are eeriely reminiscent of today's trends...

Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by A.N. Roquelaure (Anne Rice): not my first porn... but it was my first erotica novel. ^_~.

James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl: read this twice in school. once in thrid grade when i lived in long beach. then again in 5th when i moved to moval.

Are You There, God? It?s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume: ... so i read a lot of judy blume. hrmm... didn't she write the ramona series too? or was that someone else?

The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline Cooney: i don't remember exactly when i read this, but i do remember reading it. found it interesting. found the sequel less interesting. found the third book trite... & i don't think there was a fourth book.

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut: love vonnegut. love this book. ^_^

Lord of the Flies by William Golding: another required reading. still can't get over the deaths of simon & piggy. ^^;;

Native Son by Richard Wright: yet another required reading. this book was one of the few required readings in hs that i didn't have to push myself to read... ::shrugs: i guess it's just one of those morbid fascination things.

The Dead Zone by Stephen King: a recent reading for me. i couldn't put it down... & now, b/c of the afterword, i'm now obsessed with the idea of "reverse american dreams".
